Front Yard Project Album

Take a look at my new front yard project!!  After we moved in we cleaned up the old yard just so it would look better.  But, there is lots to follow with my new yard.

These pictures are what the front looked like the day we had the inspection.  It's come a long way since then.

In the South if you want grass you've got to have lots of water and I wasn't about to chase sprinklers all day.  So look what I did!

Here is the valve combo that controls the sprinklers on the side yard.

Yes, I did all that digging myself.  The tree roots were so huge I couldn't have done it with a machine without starting and stopping all the time.  I laid about 600 feet of 1 inch PVC pipe as you see in the photo.  Yeah, that's right!  You never woulda thunk it would you?

See the pipe popping out of the mud?  I had to go under the sidewalk.  It was a pain.  I had to go through a second time to run the electrical wire that will operate the valves.  That was even worse.

This is the main line that services the Back and Side Yards.  It wraps around the house all the way through the Back Yard.

Guess I got a little tired digging this stretch.  I would have used a machine but I had so many huge roots I figured it was easier to do it by hand.

At one point I had to get a Sawz'all out to cut through some huge roots.  Some I went under because they were too big to deal with.

Nice and smooth and ready to go.  You have no idea what it took to get from that first picture to this one.

Spraying the Hydro Grass!

This stuff has the mulch, fertilizer and grass seed all built in.  It sprays on and in about five days I should have a lawn.  Then I'm sure I'll be bitching about having to cut it.

After

Looks like snow or maybe cotton on the yard.  When it's dry it's bright Teal color and when it's wet, well it looks like wet Teal colored cotton balls.

I got this great shot of Miss Joli staring out the window.  Don't you wonder what she's thinking?  A co-worker suggested she was thinking that there is so much grass and so little time.  I wondered if she was thinking that she is so glad she's pad trained so she doesn't have to mess it up.  Whatever it is, it's a good shot of her policing the house.

Keep watching..more to come

Hopefully the next shots will be of a full lawn!!!
